This seasoning blend uses a blend of light brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and some other seasonings to create a mixture that works great on a wide variety of meats.

This seasoning blend is one I think you will be reaching for time and again, especially during grilling season. However, I find myself using it year round, especially when I make pulled pork in the slow cooker.

Description

This multi-purpose seasoning blend is a mixture of salty, savory, and sweet. These flavors come together wonderfully on almost any type of meat including ribs, shredded pork, chicken, burgers, and more. This combination of flavors is distinct and very versatile.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, (lightly packed)
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1/4 cup paprika
  • 2 tbsp salt ((1 1/2 tbsp is ok if you prefer less salt))
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp thyme, (dried)
  • 1 tbsp celery seed
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1/2 tbsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper ((less if you don't want spicy))
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients until well blended.

  2. Pour mixture into a sealed container and store with your other spices until ready to use. If it starts to clump up from the brown sugar, just take a fork and break it up and mix well again. This mixture should last up to a couple of months in a sealed container.
